For Christmas this year, I’d like to share memories of 2021 in pictures.

Hello friends! Hasn’t it been another crazy year?! In the last 2 months, we’ve had 3 weddings and a funeral.

This year Charlie learned to crawl, walk, run, and feed himself. His hair just keeps getting curlier.  Some curls are as tight as springs!

Char and cleaning houses take up most of my time, but I just couldn’t not do a Christmas post, so here goes.

It’ll be in Christmas letter format. Come on, share the memories!   🙂

January

Another normal after-Christmas and cold-weather month.

Nothing exciting, but here is a picture from last Christmas.

Memories of February

Our oldest, Lacey, spent the whole month in Oregon. She was able to work online, so it worked out great. Lacey absolutely loves the beaches.

Two friends came out for 2 weeks each. Part of the time she “glamped” in an airbnb beside a river.

What a great way to spend a month!

Big birthday memories of March

Chelsea turned 30…and Char turned one!! He didn’t care much about eating his cake, but he enjoyed destroying it.

Exciting memories of April

I started a 16-week healing prayer class. It was amazing and spiritually life-changing. In fact, I’m going to do it again this coming year because I’m hungry for more.

Also, I worked on my family history. Your blogger is royalty!

Kings!

On my grandma’s side, I got back further than the year 750.

Count Isambard was born in 750. I found names 2 generations above, but with no dates.

I’m related to kings in England and Germany, to name a few. It was so exciting to discover that!

Spring was in the air as Rick and I made homemade cinnamon and caramel rolls.

For the first time (and maybe the last), we threw axes in honor of our future brother-in-law, Chris’s, birthday.

April was a month full of good memories.

 Memorial May

In this month, we visited 9 cemeteries, all in one day! We like to remember our loved ones and dig up new info as well as drive the country roads and see the sights.

There was a large and loud herd of cows across the road from one cemetery. They ran to the next pasture for fresh grass, bellowing all the way. Happy cows!

Memories of a Joyful June

Melissa Louise Uhl was to become our daughter-in-law, so we went to Loveland, Colorado, for a quick weekend trip to meet her.

After a big homemade breakfast Saturday morning, we took off for Estes to hike for the day. I loved her instantly. She’s sweet and real!

Two weeks later, Luke and Melissa came home for her to meet the rest of the family. Melissa loves outdoor adventures; consequently, she introduced us to paddleboarding.

Windy July memories!

We experienced a bad wind storm this month. Lots of long walks and playing in the water with Char.

In my last post, I shared pictures of Charlie looking at our neighbors’ chickens. He continues to do that, which is adorable!

August memories

More sun and summer fun. Family pictures in the backyard.

Sunny September memories

Veggie Tales, swinging at the park, opening the garage door, and of course, many walks kept Char and me busy.

My siblings and I went through all of my mom’s old family pictures. What a fun time!

Fun and fabulous memories of October

Wedding month!

First, on the 9th, nephew Austin and Riley got married. It was a beautiful day for an outside wedding at the Field Club of Omaha. So fun.

Then, after a 4-month engagement, Luke and Melissa tied the knot on another beautiful October day.

God bless these couples.

We got to Loveland Thursday night and went to dinner with Luke and Melissa in the Loveland downtown district. It’s a cool place.

Friday morning was sunny and clear so we decided on the spur of the moment to head to Estes Park.

After the wedding we’d be staying in Estes, but all 3 days were expected to be cloudy so we took advantage of the great day. That night was the rehearsal dinner; therefore, it was a fast trip.

The Wedding

Memories of 2021

After the wedding, as mentioned above, Chels, Jacob, Charlie, Tricia, Chris, Rick and I got a Vrbo for 3 days in Estes. Everyone had a good time, especially Tricia because Chris proposed up on the mountain!

We loved spending time with family in our favorite place. Bighorn sheep, deer, elk, and even a coyote made appearances for us.

Snow lightly floated down and snowmen greeted us as we meandered around Bear Lake and showed Tricia and Chris the majestic Rocky Mountain National Park.

Beautiful and sad memories of November

Fall was gorgeous around here this year.

We had another busy month as Rick turned 65, Grandpa Bob passed away, and Chels and Jacob decided to buy a house just down the hill from us.

Rick’s on a countdown to 70 when he plans to retire!

We reveled in extended time with our out-of-town kids, Luke, Melissa, and Calie due to Grandpa’s passing.  🙂

Delightful memories of December

On the 11th, Tricia became Mrs. Chris Hartwig. They said “I do” at a quaint little country church on a blue-sky day. It was perfect!

Rick and I took a road trip to Minnesota. Driving home, a blazing sunset enthralled us for many miles.

These days, Char is basket-surfing down the stairs compliments of Grandpa.

I had to be out early one morning and caught a glowingly stunning sunrise to share with you all.

Merry memories of 2021
