Need an idea for dinner tonight? Some comfort food? How about Hamburger Pie or, as some call it, Shepherd’s Pie?
Put potatoes on to boil (unless you are using instant). (I use 4 to 5 medium to large.)
Brown the hamburger, use your favorite seasonings. Drain if necessary. Put into 9 x 13 baking dish.
Add the cans of soup. Drain the liquid from the cans of beans into a bowl; you will use this. Dump beans in and use enough of the liquid from the beans to get a consistency that you like, not too thick, but not runny.
At this point, I would add more salt and pepper and/or perhaps something like Seasoned Salt. Add any optional ingredients that you have chosen including some shredded cheese if you like.
Mash/beat the potatoes making them nice and creamy. I use sour cream, salt, and butter. Spread over the mixture; it is kind of like frosting a cake.
Optional: add shredded cheese over the top. For some color, I sprinkle paprika on top of the potatoes/cheese.
Bake at 350 degrees until mixture bubbles around the mashed potatoes.
Your delicious hamburger pie is ready. Serves 4-5. Enjoy this family favorite!
Until next time enjoy your…
Blessings and blooms,
Pam
